Mechanism of Action (Educational)
NA-Semax Amidate is a stabilized synthetic analog of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH 4-10 fragment). It enhances expression of neurotrophic factors including brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and nerve growth factor (NGF).
It also modulates dopaminergic and serotonergic systems, supporting neuroplasticity, attention, and cognitive performance. The amidate modification increases stability compared to non-amidated Semax.
Indications (Literature / Off-Label)
- Cognitive enhancement
- Neuroprotection research
- Post-stroke recovery (Russia)
- ADHD symptom support
Administration (Literature)
| Parameter | Details |
|---|---|
| Route | Subcutaneous or intranasal |
| Frequency | Once or twice daily |
| Injection Sites | Subcutaneous: abdomen Intranasal: divided doses per nostril |
| Timing | Morning or early afternoon (avoid evening use) |
Titration Schedule (Literature)
- Weeks 1–2: 200–500 mcg once daily (AM)
- Weeks 3+: 500–1000 mcg daily (may split BID)
- Upper reference range: 1200 mcg daily
Avoid evening dosing due to potential stimulation or insomnia.
Pharmacokinetics (Literature)
- Rapid CNS activity (minutes to hours)
- Cognitive effects reported within hours to days
- Human PK data remain limited outside Russian literature
